AMT Expands Controls Engineering, Adds Panel Build Service AMT

When customers give you clear direction, it’s an easy decision to act. We listened to customers from all industries who wanted us to expand our controls engineering, software and debug services. And we also heard from integrators, line builders and end users alike who wanted a single source for controls design and panel build. With that direction, AMT recently completed the acquisition of K-R Automation, one of the premier controls houses in factory automation. The acquisition has tripled the size of our controls engineering department and brought us a world class panel fabrication facility with a 50 year heritage of excellence.

Let us show you how our controls and panels departments can impact your bottom line. To discuss engineering, software or panel fabrication opportunities, contact us at sales@appliedmfg.com. Or click here for more information.

Accuracy, Repeatability, and the Pursuit of Precision

“Why can’t I copy a program from one robot to another?”
“I replaced the J2 motor, but my programs have shifted.”
“I have to re-teach points after I swap robots.”
“I’m getting measurement errors with my robot CMM.”
“I want to do real off-line programming.”
“Can I use a robot for machining?”

All these questions refer to robot precision, specifically repeatability (the ability to return to a taught point in 3 dimensional space) and accuracy (the ability to go to a predefined point in space that has not been taught). If you’re wrestling with robot precision problems, AMT can help. We can help you understand the source of the system error, the best calibration techniques, and realistic expectations at the end of the process. We can help with immediate plant floor problems, and we can prevent production headaches by working with you in the simulation, design and programming phases of a project.

Contact us to discuss any current issues, and how we can engineer in precision at the front end of a project.

AMT Expands Depth in Small Robot Expertise

AMT is known as the “go to” robot guys, especially for large six and seven axis robot brands of all types. We are now happy to announce that we have recently added to our depth of expertise in the area of small, high accuracy, high speed robots.

As we expand our reach into General Industry automation segments, we see a greater demand for engineering experience related to smaller parts – systems typically automated with robots such as Epson, Denso, Stäubli, Adept, and other small robot brands. Our enhanced expertise in small robot application analysis, project leadership, and hands-on technical skills provides an excellent bridge for customers who have traditionally thought of AMT as the “big robot” guys.

AMT Provides Technical Publications and System Documentation

For many companies – especially system integrators delivering unique, one-of-a-kind solutions – technical publications and system documentation is a burden they would rather not handle. Most companies run lean and the thought of assigning in-house engineers the task of documentation is considered counter-productive when they should be working on the next project. The problem, however, is that technical writers from local temp agencies just don’t possess the depth of technical knowledge it takes to create the quality documentation required to satisfy end users (at least not without excessively taxing the project engineers for input).

At AMT, our depth of technical knowledge and real-world process experience has enabled us to form a team of technical writers that can easily step into your project and, with minimal input, create technical manuals and complete system documentation well within your schedule and quality requirements. Our writers are engineers who understand automation equipment and processes from their own hands-on experience. They speak with your project manager and engineers to understand the overall scope, and then they provide their service while your engineers stay focused on completing the job.

Are you looking for an easy way to tackle your technical documentation? Give us a call for a fixed-price quote and discover how we can relieve the burden of system documentation on your next project.
