Acquisition to Expand Applied Manufacturing’s Mechanical Design Capabilities
Orion, Michigan — June 22, 2006 – Applied Manufacturing Technologies, Inc. (AMT), a leading supplier of factory automation design, engineering and process consulting services today announced the completion of its acquisition of Tur-Tech, Inc. (TTI), a Troy, MI based design and engineering house. The acquisition will expand AMT’s overall mechanical design capabilities, particularly in the area of automotive body shop weld systems and tooling design.
“Tur-Tech is a highly regarded design house, with a great team of engineers and designers,” noted Mike Jacobs, president and CEO of AMT. “Combining TTI’s specific design skills into AMT will enable us to pursue larger, more challenging projects.”
“Our customers have asked us to expand our design and engineering services, as they prefer to work with fewer vendors with a broader base of skills” commented Joe Campbell, chief operating officer for AMT. “The acquisition of TTI is a key step in our efforts to support all phases of our customer’s projects.”
William Turley, Tur-Tech’s founder and president, will continue in a consulting role for AMT. “Combining Tur-Tech and AMT’s talents and technologies will let us meet the customer needs,” noted Turley. “This truly is a case of the sum being greater than the individual parts.”
AMT has assumed the TTI business, assets and employees effective June 5, 2006. The business will operate as part of AMT’s Design Group, and will be located in AMT headquarters in Orion, MI.
